Baby #2

I borrowed Mom's scanner yesterday, so I've finally taken the time to scan in the ultrasound I had on the 18th showing my new baby! It's a little hard to see clearly (as all ultrasounds are), but in this photo his head is on the right, and the large circle on the left is his abdomen. He's holding his hands above his head, so they look kind of like a crown. His face is very skull-like in this image--I like to joke with Logan that he looks like the main character from the Nightmare Before Christmas. (You've probably noticed the use of "he" quite frequently in this paragraph. The nurse that did the ultrasound said that she was about 75% sure it's a boy, but because it was about 15 weeks it's a bit early to say with absolute certainty. But, in the meantime, we'll just plan on one!)

In other news, Logan's regional wrestling tournament was this weekend, and he won third place! This means he'll be going to nationals during spring break, which are conveniently located in Virginia Beach this year. Tommy and I plan to attend to support him :-) We were very proud of him today!

Sorry to be momish, but Tommy was just too darn cute this week not to share it with people! I got my cello out to play (for the first time in a looooong time) and Tommy wanted to try, so I took some pictures. Today Logan tried some gloves on Tommy, and he just acted silly, so of course we had to video tape it!

New Toy!!!

I'm very excited today, because my new toy has arrived! For my online design classes I needed to purchase digital design tablet, so I went online and found a Wacom Bamboo tablet for a good price (thank goodness my tax return had arrived!). It's been really fun playing with it. Now I can draw freehand in programs that the mouse drives me crazy in, plus I can add my signature to things (why, I dunno, but it sounds like fun!)

The first of what may be many...or few

Well, since my sister put in a special request for me to begin publishing a blog, I thought, what the hey! Might as well. It's actually quite fun for me to go back and look at the blogs I published in high school (when blogging was new and exciting). I'll admit, since getting married I haven't been very diligent with a journal, let alone a blog, so this may be a good way to kick start my writing juices again.

A little info for those who haven't talked to me in a while:
I'm currently the Director of Housing for Southern Virginia University (my alma mater) and things seem to be going fairly well there. I recently got a new office (which my Dad and I painted) and I absolutely LOVE IT! It's located in Main Hall, and I have a beautiful view of the sunset and Buena Vista. My husband, Logan, graduates from Southern Virginia in May, and we're very excited for that! We don't have any immediate plans to leave the area, as I promised the University I would spend at least two years in my position as DoH, and I haven't even finished the first year yet. Logan is really hoping to coach the men's cross country team next year, and is studying to take the foreign service exam in the summer. He's hoping to get posted to a third world country, but the process usually takes about 16 months from the time of the test, so we have some time to get updated passports.

We found out around New Year's that we're expecting another little baby in August, and we're very excited! We weren't planning on having our kids quite this close together, but all things considered we think it will work out just fine. I'm using a midwife here in town, whom I LOVE, and we're planning to have a homebirth (for those of you who don't know, I was born at home myself, so this is not in the least bit scary to me). I'm about 15 weeks along as of right now, and the only thing I'm craving is chocolate milk. Or a chocolate milkshake. Either one works for me.

I'm currently taking some online courses through the Art Institute of Pittsburgh to get my Digital Design Diploma in the hopes that I'll be able to work in the graphics design field some day. That seems to be going well, although at times it's hard balancing work, family, and online school. But Logan is supportive, and I only have a few months left. Might as well finish what I start!

So, that's the big stuff for right now. I have no idea how often I'll update this, so stay tuned!
